Ever Dimming Room

‘Ever Dimming Room’ opens a private window into my continuous struggle to keep seeing my children ‘one more time.’ Directed by Min Reid, and filmed entirely on location in Oxford, UK, Min chose to feature my daughter throughout the film. This is putting my heart way out there in the open. But there is no other way to go… for me. Any emotion you see is real, because this is what is real. This is my acceptance. It is sad, and it is happening to me. I share this with you in the hopes that you, as the viewer / my friends and family, feel the beauty of life. I will keep watching this beautiful video, until it can only be a picture in my mind. I hope it will be enough… because it has to be.

It was a huge honour to be asked by ‘boudwin.’ to create a concept around his song ‘ever dimming room’ for a shoot. As Derrick wrote the song about his disease and that it may be any day now that he loses his eyesight, I had to be extremely sensitive in the visual that we created.
I asked Derrick to speak from the heart… and then this music video turned into a documentary snippet for the intro. The rest is emotion. Pure emotion. As the theme of this song is Derrick’s heart breaking need to see his children just “one more time”, I felt it important to feature Derrick’s three-year-old daughter, who was pure magic. The closing shot gets me every time.
